How COVID-18 has affected
Environment?
Due to COVID-19, the emission of greenhouse gases have fallen
across the world because the factories, transportation and vehicles are stopped
running and due to this, the CO2 is decreases averagely 5% across the world and
carbon monoxide is reduced 50% compared to last year.
In
last three months, the world has been transformed. Wuhan city is the origin of
coronavirus and from there it is spreader across the world and almost in all
the countries, lockdown is announced and crores of families are locked in their
house because the factories except essential needs are closed. The electricity
to be consumed in that factories and vehicles is not consumed so the government
and other electrical energy producer are required to generate less electrical
energy compared to previous years and we all know that major electricity is
generated by the coal energy and as the demand of electrical energy is reduced,
fewer coals are being used compared to previous years so the emission of flue
gases by that coals is reduced much and the environment is less polluted in the
year2020.
The fact is that
economy is inversely proportional to the environment. as the factories are
closed, transportation vehicles are required to use very less and normal people
cannot use their vehicles, the production and distribution of goods(except
essential goods) is stopped so that the economy of the country is directly
affected and as the economy falls the pollution level of the country decreases.
Most of the countries have stopped the flights, due to this
the pollution decreases much because there were always rush in flights and day
by day more and more flights were flying in the sky. The flights require more
fuel than other commercial vehicles.
The trains are stopped except the coal carrying trains. Coal
carrying for electricity generation and in essential needs. So as the passenger
trains are closed, the coal and diesel used to run trains are left out. As the
train is electric or diesel in both cases fossil fuel is being used. If the
train is electric, the electricity on which it runs is majorly generated by the
coal and as it is diesel type, it consumes diesel and in both cases the
pollution occurs. The Indian railway consumes 2.6 billion liters of diesel
annually, it means the consumption of diesel in Indian railways is decreased
660 million liters till now in the year 2020. In the year 2019, 574
million tons of coal was used to generate electricity for electrified routes
and for houses and factories. That coal usage is decreased much in the year
2020. So the pollution occurring by Indian railways is decreased much. Due
to this less use of fuel and coal, we can say that pollution is decreased much
due to covid-19.
Very Informative. 👏👏👏
